This year, WordCamp Asia 2026 passed me by in a bit of a blur.
I didn’t have my usual hallway conversations, the kind where ideas casually discussed and something interesting comes out of it. But I did end up having two long chats: one over breakfast, and another during a snack break.

Both conversations somehow circled around AI, and what it means for services and product WordPress businesses.
I’d had these hunches rattling around my brain for a while, but these chats finally crystallized them into two main takeaways:
- Knowing what to build (and what not to build) is becoming more valuable than just knowing how to code.
- Given how fast AI is moving, I’m probably better off staying a couple of steps behind the bleeding edge, rather than chasing it.
This is what I took home with me from WordCamp Asia.
What about you, let me know in comments.
